D1 is critical for passing Paper D / M2. D1 can be worth 40 – 60% of the total D marks. So, to pass, you need to be able to use the time available for D1 as effectively as possible. This course will improve your confidence, reduce your anxiety, and fine tune your D1 scoring efficiency.
I have made the D Exam as an EQE benchmarker under true exam conditions for the last 10 years. I have taught the D1 methodology for more than 10 years, so I have a very good idea of the different styles of exam that you could face.
Most candidates pass D in the 45 to 60 mark range, so even 5 extra marks can make a huge difference. A lot of candidates mainly pass on D1 performance. But that the current trend of fewer D1 questions means that it is more likely that they will ask something that people don’t know well or cannot do quickly.
High marks on D1 requires appropriate legal basis to be cited without wasting too much time. Time is very limited, so it is essential to cover the core issues most likely to get marks. It is also critical to make optimal choices about what should be covered, especially for open questions.
D1 is an ideal opportunity for those with more legal knowledge to score most of their marks.

The course will be 3 hrs and recorded. I will give a short intro to the steps I take, how to identify core issues, a pragmatic approach to citing legal basis, and deciding which background issues to cover. I will go step-by-step through reading and analysis of a large D1 exam questions. We can then discuss possible solutions, and model solutions.
I will send the D1 questions beforehand so that you can prepare. You can also download the materials and study at your own pace. I am available to answer any questions up to the exam.
