Thu 28 Jan 21, updated docs on official EPO e-EQE page website in preparation for Mock2 and exam. Read in detail before testing and again before the exam (updated regularly)
- New: Requirements for the e-EQE 2021 with room requirements, and steps you should follow.
- Updated: e-EQE Data Protection Statement explaining compliance with GDPR
- Updated: WISEflow user guide. See my PDF track changes – WISEflow user guide.
- Updated: Tips4Candidates. See my PDF track changes – Tips4candidates.
- New: EQE2021 calendars can already be printed for PE and Paper D. On EQE notices page.
- Mock2 papers and model solutions available from epi website (no login required)
- invigilator passw: xyz
- Updated 3 Feb 21: I have collected crash & restart issues here in a separate post
I have updated my earlier posts as much as possible. I have not linked to official docs as they are updated regularly – print them out and have them at the exam. A selection from the updates:
1. Location for exam
- cover any see-through wall or door in room through which another might be able to see your screen
- cover any window, mirror or other shiny or glossy surface behind you
- no other electronic devices permitted unless explicitly allowed by Examination Secretariat in advance
- food, drink and medicines allowed
- eyewear allowed but only for correcting or aiding vision
- cannot leave room or move out of camera view within first 30 mins of exam
- Mock2 PE: I also handed in and left within 25 mins without problem.
2. Hardware
- camera centred above or below frame of the active screen, but not more than 5 cm away from it
- audio verification required before you can access the flow
- test audio and video before launching Lockdown browser (in operating system)
- Mock2 PE: needed to have camera & microphone working before starting browser. After that they stayed on, but no invigilation and no warnings if you get up etc.
3. Software
- Zendesk info added to communicate with invigilators. Must login for exam. Login available in Lockdown browser under External Resources. Login possible from normal browser if problems. New address given: support@epo.zendesk.com. Set up Zendesk account in online environment (another username and password)
- Mock2 PE: I could not log on to Zendesk (I have not received a password, and no account exists yet for me). But I could still do Mock2 PE part 1 without it.
- Mock2: although you can log-in, they were not responsive. So if you get kicked out, or are late, you cannot do Mock2
- turn off screensavers and power saving
- accept all cookies at WISEflow login
- Mock2: if you have a touchpad, turn off 3 & 4 finger gestures in windows settings
4. Invigilation
- Before Mock2, use “Reference photo with ID/passport ” flow to record your e-EQE reference photo (available from 29-01-21 14:00). Only takes few minutes, and will save you time during the EQE and Mock 2. Once completed, when accessing any subsequent flow, you will simply have to take an entry photo without the ID card/passport.
- Apparently, if not happy, can exit flow without finishing and tick box to say you want to retake. That allows picture to be taken again.
- If not successful (eg ran out of time), when you start Mock2, you will be prompted to do it again, so have ID ready.
- take entry image when prompted starting exam flow, ensuring entire face is visible, and approve it.
- Mock2 PE: I had completed ID flow correctly 1 day before. On starting browser, just had to take picture of face. Also had to check microphone working and speak my name into it.
- if late due to exceptional circumstances, may still take exam, but need to supply evidence afterwards. You could still be disqualified afterwards.
- Mock2: invigilators will not respond, so if you are late, you cannot start exam
- unscheduled breaks (A,B,C,D2) only possible after 30 mins passed from official exam start time
- inform invigilator via chat function: “I take an unscheduled break” and “I’m back from the unscheduled break”
- Mock2 PE and D: no active invigilation
- may not take any material or docs from desk during unscheduled break. Cannot leave room or move out of camera view within first 30 mins of exam
- Mock2 PE and D: no active invigilation
- Updated 3 Feb 21: I have collected crash & restart issues here in a separate post
- test audio and video before launching Lockdown browser
- Log-in to Zendesk for invigilation
- Mock2 PE: I could not log on to Zendesk (I have not received a password, and no account exists yet for me). But I could still do Mock2 PE part 1 without it.
- Mock2: invigilators will not respond, so if you are late or get kicked out, you cannot start exam
- warning added: don’t just click on thumbnail for side-by-side preview. Select language first. Otherwise, you will only be able to read in German. Refreshing browser means you may have to start exam again!
- warning added: max. 10 tabs to avoid crashing browser
- zooming is possible
- “CTRL-SHIFT V” for pasting without formatting
- details available about taking entry image
- Use [widget] in Paper B to indicate deletions
- Mock2: you will get kicked out automatically if you use “blocked” options like Alt-Tab or 3/4 finger gestures too often. You then need invigilator password to get back in. During D exam, invigilators on Zendesk chat would not provide it.
- 1. Includes login for Zendesk
- Mock2 PE: I could not log on to Zendesk (I have not received a password, and no account exists yet for me). But I could still do Mock2 PE part 1 without it.
- 2. Access to Calendars
- Mock2 PE: calendars available. Links given to calendars on EPO website, but cannot open pdf versions (blocked). Use other entry in drop list which opens extra tab in browser
- 3. EPO legal texts – access to official website texts in extra tab in browser
- Mock2 PE: yes, available :-). Can also click on Advanced legal texts search (in bottom right). I searched through EPO Guidelines for keywords.
- Mock2 D: can open pages and can open shorter pdfs, like OJ EPO.
7. Mock2 Pre-Exam (=2019 Paper)
- I only did Part 1
- Calendars are now available in browser via Extarnal References
- Also available on EPO website – print any time. On EQE notices page.
- Starting flow early just puts you in a countdown window. When it reaches zero, you can start Lockdown Browser
- Questions still presented with 3 languages intermingled
- No real change to browser, except for: more links under External references, and icon showing that camera and microphone are turned on
- Don’t forget to turn unplug them, or at least cover them after finishing exam to ensure complete privacy.
- No live invigilation, so also no warnings if you move or leave early etc.
- EPO legal texts available via External References (see above)
- After handing in Part 1, no copy was immediately available in WISEflow
- Update: available the next day
- If you wish, you can request an email receipt that you handed something in
- Invigilator password is NOT same as in Mock1
- I tried logging in late to Part 2. I could not get in. You need invigilator password, and I cant get in Zendesk!
- invigilator passw: xyz
8. Mock2 Paper D (=new paper)
- Updated 3 Feb 21: I have collected crash & restart issues here in a separate post
- A lot of people thrown out during exam for allegedly using Alt-Tab or 3/4 finger gestures. No way back in without invigilator password. These are blocked anyway – I am not sure why you should also be punished for accidentally pressing them.
- If you have a touchpad, turn off the 3/4 finger gestures in windows settings
- Start on time, otherwise there is no way in. Invigilators on chat will not give you the invigilator password. I was 10 minutes late to D2, partly due to a windows update that decided to install in the break and I was trying to turn off the 3/4 finger gestures.
- invigilator passw: xyz
- If anyone who was thrown out wants to do the D1 and D2 on paper, epi has made papers and model solutions available here (no login needed)
- D exam interface was same as for Mock1, except for: more links under External references, and icon showing that camera and microphone are turned on
- D1 part 1 was 3 questions. D2 part 1 was also 3 questions. As they are 1 page, you can have them open in assignment preview and separate tabs. Calendars were available via External References
- Search and copy/paste from D1 questions worked fine. If you use CTRL-SHIFT-V to paste, you only need to add the spaces at the end of lines.
- I tried the revert to previous version. This works well – it seems like a lot of intermediate versions are made. You can even reverse this by going back to a the version you just reverted from.
- If you want to apply header formatting to a word or phrase. it must first be separated from the paragraph after and before with returns, otherwise the header style is applied to the whole paragraph.
- My links in Table of Contents were visible, but clicking on them does not jump to that position in my answer (still same problem as in Mock1)
- D2 was only 4 pages, so you could also open separate tabs.
- Positive note: they have improved D2 by sorting the information for each application – that makes it easier to find when looking back, and you don’t have to flip backwards and forwards when trying to place the facts with the rest.
- Handed-in exams do become available in WISEflow, but not immediately. It takes sometime to generate the file. In the afternoon, I could see the D1 parts 1 and 2.
